but - made a tasty tomato and blue cheese quiche and roast rib of pork - not together you understand... still thinking of starting again in earnest on july 1st for 12 months of no repeats - but am pondering on the rules - any suggestions?

Wednesday and Thursday - hopeless

Wednesday - left over curry
Thursday - grill steaks, chips and beans

... too much going on at work.  I think I might start 365 different dinners at the beginning of the holidays.

Take away curry

Similar to the previous take away curry - so I had to make sure that we had some new dishes - aloo gobi, sag chicken, mushroon bhaji and onion bhaji did not feature last time - repeats however were bangla shad and chicken biryani.  Will obviously have to address the rules of this initiative if I do an extended stint!  :)

In my defence - left for work before 7 - returned after 7.... with very little time for breaks all day.

Greek(ish) passtichio(ish)

OK - well it was quite tasty - the idea was from the baked Greek dish passtichio (??) but too hungry to let it bake - so a fairly vegetable full ragu sauce with cumin and mint alongside oregano, garlic and thyme.  Then after stirring the sauce into the pasta added riccota and blue cheese.

Victim scoffed the lot, moaned about the seasoning... but acknowledged that it was better than getting plastic supermarket dinner - 6.5/10.

Fish cakes

okay... not mine, again..... but they were a bargain! and fresh

Victim comments:  3/10 - well harsh in my view!  too potatoey (not my doing), presentation rubbish... (have to agree there) - and we had to add lashings of tomato ketchup.  Still I thought they were tasty for chuck in the oven when you're busy..  "victim" might be getting beans on toast soon.  :)

Friday and Saturday

Gathered victims gave me 6.5/10!  Harsh I think - duck was well cooked but sauce was a bit rubbish - against my better nature I followed a recipe to THE LETTER and got the arrowroot all wrong.  I achieved a gloopy - really gloopy - mess - so had to dilute with some more chicken stock and orange juice - but this diluted the caramelliness of the original.  Ho hum....

Friday:  Chicken goreng (not home made)

Saturday:  Duck a l'orange

Chicken and chips

No really it is different -(23rd May) - it was roasted with a spicy marinade and the salad had a blue cheese dressing - and aga chips are NOT the same as baked potatoes :)

Wednesday: Vegetable strogaroni

It would have been mushroom stroganof but we had no tagliatelli, so it developed a personality of its own with macaroni.

Victim was surprised by how much she liked this - it was a hot day here - and it was tasty and fresh - gave it a score of 8/10.  Obviously criticised about presentation.
